Reclaiming Your Wisdom: How Your Cycle Can Guide Your Life and Work

'Women are not meant to function the same every day. We are cyclical beings, and within that cycle lies our greatest strength.
Your menstrual cycle is probably the most important power you've never been taught.
It’s not your fault.
For years, I ignored my cycle. I pushed through deadlines, numbed symptoms, and tried to stay productive no matter what because that’s what I thought was required to succeed in life and work.
Until I started learning about the menstrual cycle. And everything started to make so much more sense.
How the Past Shapes the Present
From a young age, women are conditioned to ignore their cycles. We’re taught that hormonal shifts are weaknesses or inconveniences rather than sources of wisdom. This belief runs deep. Not just in our minds, but in our collective memory.
Because historically, women who embraced their wisdom such as herbalists, healers, midwives were labeled as witches and murdered for it. Between the 14th and 17th centuries, the Catholic Church persecuted countless women, not for wrongdoing, but for their deep connection to nature’s rhythms. Feminine power was feared, so it was silenced.
Throughout different cultures, menstruation has been seen as impure, a curse and something that set women apart, something that prevented them from participating in society like men. Even now, we see remnants of this suppression in the way women’s bodies are controlled, dismissed, or blamed.
We hear it when people say, “She shouldn’t have worn that.” “She shouldn’t have smiled at him.” When we place responsibility on women instead of men, we rob women of their freedom to express themselves. The same pattern exists in the way we treat our biology: we are expected to fit into a linear system that does not support our cyclical nature.
Women have worked hard to gain equality, and it has brought us far. But in the process, we’ve been taught to suppress our feminine nature in order to keep up in a world built around masculine energy. The constant push to be busy, productive, and the same every day has disconnected us from our cycles, our health, and clarity in both life and work.
And this dismissal of the feminine isn’t just cultural. It’s systemic.
Think about it: women weren’t even included in medical trials until 1993. Our cycles were considered “too complicated,” and instead of finding solutions, we were excluded. Even now, two-thirds of studies don’t analyze female participants separately, treating women as small men—ignoring the profound differences in our biology.
For example, endometriosis affects around 10% of women, yet research remains painfully inadequate. It makes me wonder: if it affected men, would there already be a cure?
And how many times have you been told to “just take a pill” for your period symptoms? I was prescribed birth control for heavy bleeding - something that’s completely normal in the first few years of menstruation. But in silencing my body, I missed the opportunity to understand its deeper messages.
This fear and distrust of the feminine still lingers today. In the way we medicate instead of meditate, pushing through instead of pausing, and suppressing symptoms rather than seeking deeper understanding.
What if we stopped fighting our bodies and started trusting them?
Reconnecting with Your Body’s Wisdom
Luckily, 20 years (!) later, I got another chance at understanding my body’s wisdom. And build a trusting relationship with it.
And believe me when I say this was not easy, and definitely not a linear process..
Since we live in a world that glorifies pushing over pausing, action over presence, control over trust- it took a whole lot of unlearning and relearning. And patience.
Brené Brown beautifully says: It takes courage to say yes to rest and play in a culture where exhaustion is seen as a status symbol.
I spent years trying to function in a system that wasn’t built for me only to burn out in the process.
It made me wonder:
Women were once burned for embracing their wisdom. Now, we’re burning out from losing touch with it.
The truth is, most societies have undermined the true value of women. History reveals a pattern where laws, policies, and cultural norms have distanced us from our power: from the witch hunts to the ongoing gaps in medical research and workplace inequality. And whether we want to or not, many of us have inherited those belief systems as our own.
This isn’t about blame — it’s about awareness.
And awareness is the first step toward change.
Because when we grow up in systems that don’t value the feminine, we learn not to value it in ourselves. We learn to push through, to keep quiet, to distrust our own bodies. We learn to measure strength by how well we suppress our needs.
But the more we reconnect with our bodies, the more we begin to shift that story from the inside out.
One woman at a time.
So where do we begin?
By listening.
Life is not about perfection, but about curiosity.
What if, instead of seeing our cycle as an inconvenience, we saw it as a guide?
For years, I ignored the signals my body sent me and pushed through fatigue, dismissed mood swings, silenced symptoms by tuning out.
But real strength wasn’t in overriding my body’s wisdom; it was in learning to get curious and trust it.
Your body also speaks to you in cravings, emotions, and energy shifts. It holds generations of wisdom in its rhythms.
And when you learn to move with your cycle instead of against it, everything begins to change.
The Benefits of Living in Sync with Your Cycle
Aligning with my cycle didn’t just transform my well-being. It also changed how I showed up for my work, my relationships, and my purpose.
✨ Embodied self-trust. I stopped micromanaging my body and started seeing it as an intelligent, intuitive partner in both life and business. As entrepreneurs, we often have beliefs to “push through” but real leadership begins with deep trust in ourselves.
✨ Rest as a strategy. When I gave myself permission to slow down, I began showing up with more clarity and vitality. True productivity isn’t about constant motion but it’s about honoring your natural rhythm so your energy is sustainable.
✨ Creative flow. I used to think I wasn’t the creative type but living in sync with my cycle opened the floodgates. New ideas, aligned decisions, and inspired content came through when I stopped forcing and started flowing.
✨ Shedding limiting beliefs. I began questioning outdated narratives about my body, my worth, and how success “should” look. Replacing hustle with harmony became my new paradigm for growth.
✨ Aligned momentum. Tracking my cycle helped me pinpoint when I feel most focused, magnetic, and ready to build and when I need to pause, reflect, or recalibrate. It’s a game-changer for sustainable progress and passionate work.
Your menstrual cycle isn’t a burden. It’s a gateway to transformation, growth, and deeper self-connection.
When you begin to sync with your natural rhythm, you stop fighting your body and start trusting it. You learn to listen to its signals rather than ignore them, and instead of feeling exhausted and frustrated, you'll find more balance and ease.
The power to transform, heal, and thrive is already within you. And you can reclaim what was lost. If you truly want to thrive, you have to.
5 Ways to Use Your Cycle as a Guide to Get Unstuck
Here’s the thing: if your subconscious beliefs don’t align with your actions or if you’re showing up but secretly doubting yourself you’re building from a place of disconnection. And that misalignment can quietly drain your energy, clarity, and confidence.
Thriving in your feminine energy isn’t about doing more but about doing differently. It starts with believing in your body’s wisdom and trusting that honoring your cycle won’t make you fall behind and will help you move forward with more ease, purpose, and power.
So whether you're building a business, navigating a pivot, or simply trying to feel more grounded in your work and life your cycle holds insights that can guide your next step.
Here’s how to begin reconnecting:
1️⃣ Listen to your body
Step away from the noise of your phone, inbox, the shoulds (never should yourself 💩). Your body speaks through energy dips, emotional waves, cravings, and bursts of clarity. These aren’t random. They’re data. Start honoring it.
2️⃣ Challenge the hustle conditioning
What have you been taught about your worth? Your productivity? Your cycle? Chances are, you’ve internalized beliefs that don’t serve your feminine rhythm. Let go of what no longer fits, and give yourself permission to rewrite the rules.
3️⃣ Work with your natural seasons
You are not meant to operate the same every day. Your cycle moves like the seasons from inward to outward, reflective to creative. Learn to notice when you feel most magnetic, focused, or in need of rest… and begin organizing your workflow accordingly.
4️⃣ Trust your inner knowing
Your intuition is not “woo” it’s wisdom. The more you tune in, the stronger it gets. Your body knows when it’s time to leap and when it’s time to wait. Trust that timing. Trust yourself.
5️⃣ Align action with intention
Awareness is powerful, but embodiment is what changes the game. Start taking small, intentional steps that reflect your truth. Whether it’s changing your schedule, saying no, launching the thing, or resting unapologetically.
Understanding your cycle isn’t just a wellness tool: it’s a leadership tool. A guide back to your power, your clarity, and your most authentic flow.
Real transformation begins when you stop fighting your body and start co-creating with it.
That power has always been within you.
It’s time to reclaim it.
Are you ready?
Thank you for being here. 🙏
