Especially for expats, internationals and newcomers in Amersfoort and the surrounding area. Small groups (max. 6p). Language: English.

Do you consider yourself as an expat or international or a so called ‘newcomer’? Are you thinking about starting your own business in the Netherlands (in the area of Amersfoort or surroundings)? Are you wondering about a lots of issues you would like to get more information about? Or probably, do you have many questions starting with ‘how’ and ’where’ and ‘ why’ or ‘which action first’ ? It’s better to know which actions you have to take and which decisions you have to make, before you go to the KvK (Chamber of Commerce).

What will this Q&A bring you?

During this session we will provide you with answers and tips. So you can start your journey to entrepreneurship with more ease and clarence.

"Starting your own business in the Netherlands, becoming an entrepeneur. Easy peasy?"

Well, depending on your mindset and individual experience and background, it might be or not:

  • you were a business owner in your home country
  • you have already a well-thought-out and elaborated idea (businessplan)?
  • you know which service or product you want to introduce on the (local Dutch) market?
  • you want to combine your current job with entrepreneurship
  • you are considering to quit your current job and start your own business
  • you want to be more than a stayhome mum or dad
  • you are well educated and would like to do something with your knowlegde and talents.
  • you already registered your business at KvK and you ask yourself: What's next?

Is starting you own business realy a piece of cake?

Well, running to the KvK (Kamer van Koophandel / Chamber of Commerce) and registering your company is the easy part. However there are consequences (obligations) you must consider. This is often forgotten or underestimated and may influence some essential issues you have been thinking and deciding about. For instance:

  • tax / VAT (Belastingdienst)
  • laws, regulations, visa's
  • the Dutch (business) culture
  • childcare and after school care
  • (local) permits and professional requirements
  • marketresearch
  • business networks and associations
  • do you need a businessplan
  • and so on
